Green Village (2010-2013) This project unites nine European countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, Island, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, United Kingdom ) that share common problems in their local rural areas, such as outward migration of young people, aging populations, abandonment of land, loss of traditional skills, disintegration of cultural landscape. The participants from these countries will collaborate on the following study areas/ work packages: “Sustainable buildings”, “Empowering communities”, “Rural energy”, “Rural food”, “Wood products” and “Sustainable ancestors”.

2011 – Rural Food
In August 2011 “Satul verde” hosted the “Rural Food “ action in Romania. Participants from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Slovakia, the UK spent a week in the village of Girbovita and in the Apuseni Mountains, learning to cook traditional Romanian food. We made stuffed cabbage rolls, cottage cheese dumplings, plum dumplings.We also baked bread in the wooden- lit oven.All the ingredients we used came from the village: vegetables, eggs, flour, etc. Participants got an insight into a typical Romanian village & sustainable village life.
