“Satul Verde” Association would like to inform you that we are organizing a

GRUNDTVIG WORKSHOP

Title of the workshop: Mask making – living the Romanian village culture

Subject area: Artistic education, also including Arts and Crafts and Music; Cultural heritage; Intercultural education.

Target Group: Adults from rural areas with low levels of qualification that are generally not well- travelled.  All participants will be selected based on the application form attached to this document.

Main activities /Programme

The main activities are: making traditional Romanian masks; learning about Romanian culture in an informal way; setting up an exhibition to show what participants have made.

Participants will explore the art of mask making using specific materials and tools for this craft. They will be encouraged to create their own designs, try on and make different types of masks. They will learn about the meaning and representations of certain masks, such as the spiritual uses of masks in some ancient Romanian traditions.

The joy of fulfilled work will be materialised in an exhibition organised in a cultural institution in Sibiu or Cisnadie with participation of the local media.

Language of the workshop: English

Costs: transport, food, accommodation will be supported by the workshop organiser.

Persons interested in attending this workshop must fill in the application form and send  it to  by  25th of March 2012 at the latest.

Selected participants will be notified by the organiser and will be given further details.
